About

Maryanne Chisholm
Maryanne Chisholm is an award-winning American fine artist and illustrator based in Tucson, Arizona. Known for richly detailed, emotionally expressive work, she creates paintings that explore beauty, memory, resilience, connection, and the extraordinary moments found within ordinary lives.
Working primarily in watercolor, acrylic, enamel, oil, and gold leaf, Maryanne draws inspiration from the elegance and ornamentation of Art Nouveau, the luminous work of Gustav Klimt, the Pre-Raphaelites, and the great figurative painters and illustrators of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Her work ranges from intimate commissioned portraits to elaborate figurative paintings and her Nouveau Riche collection, which places beautifully adorned women within some of the world’s most iconic landscapes, cities, and historic settings.
Maryanne’s path to becoming a professional artist was anything but conventional. During a lengthy incarceration stemming from a white-collar conviction she has consistently maintained was wrongful, art became an essential part of her life. She continued creating after her release and ultimately built a professional career from the skill and determination developed during those years. Her story has since been featured by PBS’s Arizona Illustrated, Business Insider, Bloomberg Wealth, and other media outlets.
Her work has received national and international recognition, including honors from the American Art Awards and World Art Awards, and has been exhibited and collected by clients throughout the United States and abroad. Yet recognition has never been the purpose of the work itself.
For Maryanne, painting is ultimately about preserving what matters.
“I paint the moments, places and people we never want to forget.”
Today, Maryanne works from Tucson, creating original fine art and accepting a limited number of commissioned portraits and custom works each year.
